White Out

This storm is no joke! Government's closed again today and I'm really glad Ry didn't have to go in this weather. We're up to our necks in another 6 inches and the WIND today is unbelievable. With gusts up to 60 mph, we're now officially under a Blizzard warning!

This is a newspaper pic of Smoketown Road, a major road in our neighborhood.

We're at day 6 of having Ryan home, and I must admit it's been pretty nice! I have half the number of diapers to change, I haven't been up before 9 am all week, and Ryan is a great playmate for Tess. He's also great at giving baths, reading nap & bedtime stories, and fixing her lunch. He's not so great at doing her hair, though he made a valiant attempt this morning. That's OK since the only visitor we have a chance of running into is the Abominable Snowman.

Day 2 of shots, and I felt it today! Reen wants to know exactly how many more shots. I have 5 more days of the Lupron (suppressive) shots, an appointment on Monday, and then I start the stimulation shots. I have 2 of those a day (Gonal F and Menopur) for about 9 days. Then the all important "trigger shot." So, in all about 24 more shots--give or take a few.

If things go well, I should go in for egg retrieval (no fun) on Feb. 26 or 27th. And if things go really well, embryo transfer would be sometime the first week of March.

Good thing I ordered my meds a week early! Not much is getting through here.

We're safe and warm and in awe of the storm. It has to end sometime soon.

Doesn't it?

He Has His Father's Eyes

I was surprised to learn that Ryan had his first baby dream the other night. Ryan was a prolific (and surprisingly accurate) baby dreamer while I was pregnant with Tess, so it wasn't so much the dream that surprised me. Ryan had baby-girl dreams long before we knew Tess was a girl. And he dreamed about her blond curly hair while she was still a cueball.

But the timing of his baby dream dream did surprise me because...well, there's no baby to dream about right now. I was also very surprised that this was a baby-boy dream. Ry loves his little girl Tess. Me too. We would love a little sister for Tess. But Ry dreamed about a baby boy.

According to Ry, he was a very cute baby boy with brown hair, like his cousin Andrew. Ryan said the baby was also amazingly smart. At 9 mos, the baby was talking in complete sentences to Ryan. Ryan was impressed with how precocious the baby was and Ryan was trying to convince me of our child's superior intellect.

For some reason though, I didn't seem very impressed or really very interested in the baby. I countered: "I don't care how smart he is, it doesn't make up for the fact that he has 3 eyes!"

Yes, our darling baby boy had 3 eyes. This didn't seem to matter very much to Ryan in the dream, but I guess I wasn't too happy about it.

So much for Ryan's prophetic dreams. Do I have reason to be worried?

Bullseye

First shot down. Many more to go. Didn't feel a thing!

Thanks Nurse Ry!

more frozen precipitation

I can't even bring myself to say the word.

Ryan finished shoveling us out just in time for us to learn that another storm is headed right for us. Another 8-12 inches over the next 2 days. You have GOT to be KIDDING me!

Where are we going to put another 12 inches???? Frozen precipitation has mass, you know!

We're definitely a little winter-weary, but we're trying to see the bright side of things:
  • Another day home for Ry tomorrow! The federal government's shut down again!
  • Enrichment is canceled. (I'm trying not to sound too excited about this!) Does this convince you: :(
  • I should be able to go to the store and restock before the second wave hits tomorrow. Only problem, I'm so sick of sugar, I may buy nothing but green beans. And a puzzle.
See you in the spring.
