June 2015 Tidbits

Drew woke me up in bed this morning: "Mom, I had my breakfast. Now can I have some frosting on my tongue?"

Drew: "Mom, you having a good birthday?"
Me: "Yes, I am."
Drew: "Then you gotta say, 'This is the best birthday EVER!!!!'"

Drew doing his best not to give away my birthday surprises: "I can't tell you, but I can give you two clues. It's not an umbrella. It has a lot of helium."

Favorite Drew word: "Yip!" (his way of saying "yes").

Drew's summer chorus: "Please, please, please on a cherry top?"

Drew, when he gets dressed in the morning: "Mom, it's a good day for a t-shirt and t-pants." ("T-pants" are a Drewism for shorts: a t-shirt is a shirt with the sleeves cut off; therefore, t-pants are pants with the legs cut off.)

I (Ryan) asked Drew to name things that spiders eat. Drew: "They eat flies and mosquito bites."

Drew, after punching his own arm: "My body is strong 'cause I can't even hurt my own body."

Drew, talking about a juniper tree in our yard: "My favorite tree is the tickle tree. Know why? 'Cause it itches my mosquito bites!"

Drew came into bed for a morning snuggle with me. He was all snuggled in when he said, "Mom, you know who my bestest person is?" Then he flips over to Ry's side of the bed. "My bestest person is Dad! Because I love my Dad so much!"

Drew: "Dad, I love you more than space aliens!"

Tess and I (Ryan) read a book about a girl who wins a fruitcake at a cake walk contest at a school carnival. Tess' comment: "Whoever invented fruitcake is going to have a meeting, a talk, and a timeout!"

Drew: "Dad, do you know how I have so much breath [energy]? Because I hold my breath."

Drew: "I have blue eyes because I'm a boy."
Ryan: "Actually, girls can also have blue eyes."
Drew: "That means girls are boys if they have blue eyes."

Drew: "Dad, you my favorite tallest friend. I love you so so so so so so so so so so much!"

Drew and I read a book about trains before bedtime. We talked about train freight such as food, wood, coal, and gas. Drew asked, "Dad, can we meet the freight train at the station to get some food? Like boiled eggs? 'Cause I love boiled eggs."

Drew, after washing his hair and looking at his reflection in the bathtub: "My hair is smooth. It looks like an airplane landing."

Anytime I feel a frown coming on, I just re-read the kids' comments and the frown turns upside down!
