Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Easter--the long-awaited holiday--was quite the event at our house this year.  Tess was giddy with excitement for the Easter bunny to come.  We colored eggs, had an egg hunt, and Tess learned how to bite the ears off a chocolate bunny.

Tess left carrots out for the Easter Bunny.  Apparently he likes to dip his carrots because he left ranch pawprints and a thank you note on the plate.  Tess was delighted at the thought of the Easter Bunny breaking into our fridge in search of ranch dressing.

So, I know you're thinking, "That's an interesting choice for Tess' Easter dress."  No, it's not her Easter dress--it's a surprise dress-up princess outfit from Nana & Papa.  To match--what else?--her surprise Tangled princess doll.  Both the dress and doll are "Nana's house" toys and Tess absolutely adores them.

So I have a ton of pictures of Tess in her princess dress and none in her Easter dress.  What the heck is wrong with me?  Nine AM church just doesn't work with Easter pics.  (Plus I was starting in on a bout with some serious sinusitis migraines, but that's a different story.)  Trust me though, Tess and Drew were the cutest little bunnies you've ever seen.  I'm planning to go get Tess & Drew's Easter portraits done at a studio.

But that plan is on hold until Tess recovers from her recent run-in with the sidewalk.  Big goose-egg on her head, scraped-up cheek and a bitten lip.  A little too much hoppin' down the bunny trail, if you know what I mean.

Hoppy Easter!

Lately

A few pics before Easter.  Though Tess is ready to be done with Easter and she's already planning for "Fourf of July."

This is what I found when I headed up to get Tess from her "nap" the other day. Not a whole lot of sleeping going on up there.

The first of several Easter egg hunts this year.  This one was at the Bringhurst's house.  They have some of the cutest kids on earth and a great backyard for egg hunting.

We've had some pretty nice weather lately.  This pic is Tess and her "friends" doing a little sunbathing.  She asked me, "Mom, you get me a sunburn please?"  I think she meant suntan lotion.

We spent this sunny day at Reston Zoo, a local petting zoo.  Tess said she was going to pet the lions.  No lions, but they did have a number of other "wild" creatures there.

This picture makes me laugh.  First of all, I don't know this lady at all, but her son spent the whole wild animal ride taking pictures of Tess.  I don't think his mom even realized what he was doing.  He filled the whole memory card on her camera.  She'll be surprised when they get home and the only photos they have are of the little girl sitting next to them.  Secondly, Tess is laughing in this picture at the ostrich leading our "parade."  Tess thought that ostrich was hysterical.

The setup there was a little strange.  I wonder what the people who live in the neighboring beautiful houses think about having a view of zebras in their backyard.  Tess pointed to one of the houses and asked me if that's where the gorillas live.  Maybe.

Tess' favorite animal was Crackerjack, the Bactrian Camel.

Raspberry Baby

Drewsie's favorite new hobby is blowing raspberries.

This hobby comes as a close second.

Rolling Along

It's been kind of a rough couple weeks, but I think we're over the hump now.  Drewsie went in for his 4 mos. appointment and checked out well.  He had a feverish reaction to the 4 vaccinations he received and then started in on a pretty bad cold that he still hasn't fully recovered from.  I know it's a bad cold because I caught it from him--and I've been miserable too!

In spite of it all, his spirits have remained high.  He's such a good-natured, happy little boy.  The doctor said he could start on cereal, and he's been enjoying that.  Some pics from his first meal:

Tess was excited for him to eat cereal, but soon melted down when she realized she wouldn't be able to feed him his first bites.  Then she got mad because she wanted HER cereal because she was SO HUNGRY!

After a time out (can you hear her screaming in the background?), she finally got her turn to feed Drewsie.

Goofy kids.

Hmmm...what else?  Drew survived his first serious sister-induced injury.

OK, it wasn't entirely her fault, but I'm choosing to blame her anyway.  Ry was at a bishopric meeting Wed. night, so I was trying to put both kids to bed.  Tess was using the bathroom upstairs while I was feeding Drew and she called down to me that she needed help cleaning her poop.  Yeah.  So I take Drew upstairs and realize Tess has smeared poop all over her hands, legs, the toilet and the toilet paper roll.  I put Drew down on the bathroom rug to wipe Tess down.  I lift her up to wash her hands in the sink and we accidentally knock the blow dryer off the counter and it plummets down and hits Drew smack in the face.  He screams, I scoop him up and realize he's bleeding where it hit him on the cheek just below his eye.  I worry something might be broken, cracked or that he might have a concussion.  He finally calms down, I finally get Tess to bed and I determine that he's a little beaten up, but probably OK.  Deep breath.

He looks a little rough, but at least it didn't swell or turn black and blue.

In the midst of all this, I've been trying a little sleep training with Drew.  It's not going spectacularly, but I guess I can't expect much with all the interruptions along the way.

Other than all that, life has been relatively normal.  Tess' latest creative endeavors include:

Strawberry Shortcake Statues

Sandbox Ice Cream

Coloring, coloring and more coloring

Helping Mom Decorate for Easter

And watching movies on our new TV!

Playing with her Drewsie
